China has named the nation's first Mars rover Zhu Rong. For all of us, Zhu Rong is a well-suited name that has a cultural meaning within Chinese history.

In an ancient Chinese story, Zhu Rong had the face of a man and the body of an animal. He rode on two dragons. When he had a big fight with Gong Gong, the god of water, Zhu Rong won. But after the fight, the human world came into complete darkness. Then he brought fire from heaven to the world, becoming a great hero.

Much like the stories of kung fu heroes who travel far and face many dangers, the Mars rover went on its own adventures. “Zhu Rong is regarded as the earliest god of fire in traditional Chinese culture,” a space official said. “The first Mars rover was named Zhu Rong. The name symbolises light and hope for space exploration in our country, and means to guide humans to continue exploring somewhere we've never been before.”

Aboard a powerful rocket, Zhu Rong left the Earth, circled Mars for several months and landed on it. Zhu Rong is like a postman in the universe, having sent back many important messages from Mars. In recent years, our country has sent up the world's first quantum satellite and Chang'e-5 has made a soft landing on the moon. Zhu Rong is another key step in our space technology achievements. We have made great progress in space technology and have built our own space station, which fills us with great pride.
